Prosecutor facing charges of rape

The 33-year-old Prosecutor at the Mthatha court, Manzolwandle Xhantsi appeared on Tuesday this week at the Mthatha court on charges of rape.

Xhantsi was released on R3,500 bail and is expected to return to court to resume this case on November 4, 2022.

The NPA spokesperson in the Eastern Cape, Luxolo Tyali, confirmed this by saying he was a part of the NPA and that they see this as a serious case when one of them commits such a crime. He said that an internal disciplinary process has been initiated.

When Xhantsi returns on November 4, he will appear with co-accused Ntuthuzelo Tsotetsi Tsotso (37).

Tyali said this case dates back to November 28, 2021, when a student (23) of one of the universities in Mthatha was sexually assaulted while sleeping in the Prosecutor’s house.

Tyali said the NPA will prosecute the accused without fear or bias.
