Two sisters, Phindile Matrose and Cikiwaza Matrose, were among the six victims shot dead at Phindile’s house on Ramba Street in New Brighton, Gqeberha.
Luningi Kitsane and Noxolo Tom are two of the six victims, the other two, a woman and a man’s identities are unknown.
Only a three-year-old boy, Cikizwa’s child, survived the incident that occurred in this house where the victims were shot.
According to a police report, neighbours heard gunshots in the house early Saturday morning and went to investigate when they discovered the door open.
When they entered the house, they discovered four bodies, three of which were women and one of which was a man. One woman was discovered in the kitchen, another in the bedroom, and the child, a boy, was found with no visible injuries.
Colonel Priscilla Naidu said that the owner of the house Phindile owns a car repair shop. It is also believed that there was a drug trade.
According to the report, some of the victims had stab and gunshot wounds, while others had only been shot.
So far, no one has been arrested, and the cause is still under investigation.
General Thandiswa Kupiso directed that the perpetrators be arrested immediately. Kupiso also urged the community and the police to work together.
